Portfolio of Hope

The more you become conscious
of the frailty,
vanity,
and dream-like quality of all things,
the more clearly you will also become conscious of the eternity of your own inner being.

Be still.
Be conscious.

You can only realise this consciousness though when you stop and…
pause
if only for a moment…/
when you allow yourself to just…
be…
still.

Be still.
Be conscious.

For,
just as you percieve the speed at which a ship is going only when looking at the motionless shore,
not when looking at the ship itself,
so too do you only perceive the true reality of existence when you give yourself permission to stop,
and be still for a moment
(or two..
or three..
or…
four
the longer the better..)

Be still.
Be conscious.

And so, you see?
We become aware of the impermanent nature of the empirical, outer world
only by way of contrast
with our own stable, inner conscious perspective.

Be still.
Be conscious.
