I believe in fate, trusting that the universe will guide me on the right path towards an underlying order, and holding the belief that; ‘what’s meant for me in life won’t pass me by.’ However, I also, simultaneously, believe in free will, holding the belief that, as humans, we are all free agents with the capacity to make decisions and incite changes that can shape our lives. So yes, whilst fate means that everything happens for a reason/that everything that happens in our lives was always going to happen, having free will means that we do have the capacity to shape these changes/we have the power of choice, for better and for worse.
‘Although we might not get to choose the cards that life deals us with, the way we play them is all about our own freewill.’
In other words, what I have is fate, and what I do with what I have is my free will…
‘Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved’ – William Jennings Bryan
The path is there, but it is my responsibility to start walking along it, for, fate will never work ‘for’ me, only ‘with’ me.
This is what people tend to forget when they ‘manifest’ something- the latest buzz word. I see it on social media all the time. What people don’t realise or, what people choose to overlook, is the fact that it’s not enough to simply say that you’re manifesting something and patiently(/lazily) wait for it to happen.
No.
If you want to live the life that you’ve always imagined, then it’s not enough to just imagine that life, you need to actually take steps to get there, realising that;
the power of change resides within YOU…
It’s how I would respond to someone who questioned the plausibility of fate. ‘If fate exists then what explanation is there for innocent people dying, for all of the wars and the wrongdoings in the world? What reason could there possibly be to explain why such tragic things happen to good people?’ My response- Because we all have free will, thus allowing us to change the course of our lives, including deviating (slightly) from our predetermined path.
(I say deviating ‘slightly’ because, although we can influence the journey with our actions, we cannot influence the destination, for that is already pre-determined. ‘What’s meant to be will be.’)
The journey though we can influence. We can change the course of our lives with a simple change in mindset.
‘Decisions equal destiny. If we want a new life, we have to make new choices.’
‘Be the energy you want to attract’ is far more than just a cliché quote, it is a necessity if we want to achieve what we are destined to achieve in life- our full potential. If you are waking up every day feeling really pessimistic and carrying that negative attitude forward with you throughout your life, then you will attract pessimism- negative energy- back to you.
What you need to do is try to embrace a more optimistic mindset on these days… Now, I know that this is easier said than done, that some days (or, if you’re anything like me, most days) you will wake up feeling quite flat, devoid of hope, glass half empty, but, you can actively choose to think more positive thoughts. Putting positive energy out into the world, you will attract that positivity/that optimism, right back to you.
So yes, manifesting is great, believing in fate and in the presence of a higher power- is great. But fate isn’t enough on it’s own. You also need to take personal responsibility. You need to, not only be the change that you want to see in the world, but consciously, and with conviction, make the changes that will allow you to be the change that you want to see in the world… It’s the only way forward.
It really is crazy what starts to happen when you believe in yourself-
slowly at first, and then all at once.
Believe in the power of the universe, and work towards living the life of your dreams.
Just take the first step, and keep walking-
forwards.
