It’s no coincidence that yellow is my favourite colour…

The colour of sunflowers

and lemonade

and smiley faces.

All warm

and cosy

and hope filled,

yellow makes everything feel better.

Like walking down the street in the middle of winter-

getting caught up in a snow storm,

looking up towards a lit window and seeing a yellow hue-

welcoming–

looking back at you,

inviting you in to the promise of respite from the cold,

of sanctuary from the dark,

of…

relief–

tempting.

It’s no coincidence that yellow is my favourite colour

when it is the colour of the light that I so desperately seek to find

from within.

Light

and hope

and…

the promise of another sunrise.

It’s no coincidence that yellow is my favourite colour,

hope is my favourite word,

home is my favourite place,

when, like a moth to a flame, to the light I am drawn.
